Vegan Sloppy Joes

Vegan Sloppy Joes

So good you won't believe it's vegan. A meal you can make in under 45 minutes that the whole family will enjoy!

Ingredients

Sloppy Joe Ingredients
  • 3 cups cooked lentils
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 celery rib, chopped
  • 2 garlic gloves, minced
  • 1 small can tomato sauce 
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp tamari soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 2 tsp Braggs vinegar
Spice Mix
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp pink salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. In a stock pot suite onion, garlic, celery and green pepper for about 10 minutes, adding water to the pan if it gets dry.
  2. Mix together the spices and add into the pot and stir a few times.
  3. Now add in the water, tamari, liquid smoke, tomato sauce, molasses, vinegar and cooked lentils.
  4. Simmer for 15 minutes until it thickens up.
  5. Serve on buns with coleslaw! (or try in a wrap!)
  6. Enjoy!
